Dr Peter Watt

Peter joined LUMS in 2023, after working as a lecturer and senior lecturer at York Business School (2014-2018), Newcastle Business School (2018-2019) and Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Leipzig (2019-2022). He has a BA in English Literature, a MA in Human Resource and Knowledge Management, and a PhD in Organisation, Work and Technology, all from Lancaster.
Current Research
The history of management thought, especially relating to the cultural, philosophical and theological foundations of seemingly secular contemporary practices and ideas; the life, work and legacy of Henry Ford (and Fordism); the intersection between literary fiction and organization studies, especially as it relates to understanding organizational character and key figures in the contemporary economy (interns, graduates, dropouts, entrepreneurs); the cultural history of HRM and HRD (recruitment, selection and performance management); the themes of 'boredom' and 'danger' as they relate to metaphysical conceptions of 'work' in the writing of Ernst J¨¹nger.
