Bowland Hall district heating extension project - July to October 2024

This summer, Bowland Hall will undergo a programme of works to connect the building to the campus wide district heating network, as part of the wider Carbon Reduction Project.

Connecting the building to the network will provide several advantages over the current heating system, including increased energy efficiency and sustainability. The works will connect Block One, Houses One to Seven of Bowland Hall residences to the network.

Construction works will begin in early July 2024 following the departure of students from affected residences and will include localised noisy works in the area. The path areas between Bowland Annexe and Bowland Hall will be closed while excavation works are undertaken, which will include the use of digging tools and equipment until the end of July.

Noisy works will pause during the summer graduation ceremonies and during exam periods. Signage will be in place to direct path users to an alternate accessible route around the building. The internal building works are expected to complete in September, ready for re-occupation, with full project completion in October 2024. Bowland Hall quad will be restricted for public access throughout the project works period.

We apologise for any disruption caused while we work to improve campus.
