Haywood Newkirk, MAI
Haywood is a native of Wilmington, North Carolina and a New Hanover High School Graduate (1982). After receiving his undergraduate degree from UNC in 1986, he worked for the US Congress in Washington, DC. for a short time. He then attended the University of Florida where he received an MBA in Real Estate Finance. After graduation he worked for KPMG and Arthur Anderson as a Real Estate Consultant and Appraiser in Atlanta, GA. His client list included the Carolina Panthers, Trump Properties, the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games and the International Olympic Committee. In 1995 he returned to Wilmington, NC and started the Clontz Newkirk Real Estate Group with his stepfather, Jim Clontz. Haywood is a Certified General Appraiser in North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland and Florida, as well as a Licensed Real Estate Broker in North Carolina. Haywood is an avid surfer and waterman enjoying his free time with two lovely daughters.
Chris is originally from Cary, North Carolina and an Apex High School Graduate (1997). After receiving an undergraduate degree from East Carolina University in 2002, Chris married his beautiful bride, Tiffany, and moved to the Wilmington area. He began a career as a Regional Sales Consultant where he gained experience in commercial HVAC systems. Chris began a residential appraisal career in 2007 with Sasser Appraisal Service. In 2008, Chris moved to The Cape Fear Review Company and started doing commercial appraisal work. Chris stayed with the company for a year and a half gaining knowledge in the commercial appraisal industry. Chris joined The Clontz Newkirk Real Estate Group at the end of 2009. During his time with the company, he has earned his Certified General Appraiser license (2012) and he is currently a Candidate for Designation with the Appraisal Institute. Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, 4 boys and 1 girl. He loves outdoor activities such as fishing and soccer.
Don is originally from Dickson, TN and moved to Charlotte, NC where he earned a BSBA with majors in Business Administration, Finance and Business Law from UNC Charlotte. After graduating in 1993 he began his career in Wilmington, NC as a real estate appraiser. In 1999, Don graduated from UNC Wilmington with an MBA. Obtaining an MBA quickly led to the opening of a North Carolina Appraisal Board approved continuing and qualifying education school. Don has been the owner and director of Realetech since 2000 and is an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor. He is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, Licensed Real Estate Broker, has extensive experience in all types of properties and has performed appraisals on a regional basis from Arkansas to Virginia. He is an FAA Certified commercial pilot with multi-engine, instrument and seaplane ratings. Don is married with 3 girls and enjoys boating, golfing and flying.
TRAINEE REAL ESTATE APPRAISER
Terry is originally from Hamlet, North Carolina. With a BA from Converse College and an MBA from Emory University, she moved to Atlanta and then New York City to pursue a career in commercial real estate finance. Terry has approximately 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, including stints as Mortgage Originator and Underwriter at Prudential Mortgage Capital, Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities Analyst at Moody’s Corporation, and Executive Director of Real Estate Credit for UBS Warburg. With her extensive background in commercial lending and investment banking, Terry returned home to North Carolina to pursue an appraisal career and to be closer to family. She is a and Licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of North Carolina and should receive her Certified General Appraisal License in 2019. Terry enjoys time with family and friends, gardening, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and dog agility with her Puggle Betsy.
Edwin grew up in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. He served four years in the US Marine Corps after graduation. Edwin began appraising in 2006, became residentially certified and graduated from Penn State in 2010 with a bachelors degree in Organizational Leadership. He then spent 3 years gaining the necessary experience to obtain a general appraisal certification and moved to North Carolina. The next few years were a mix of eminent domain, residential, and commercial appraising while attending the University of Denver’s masters of science program for a degree in Real Estate and Construction Management. After this he completed the remaining requirements to earn the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 2016. Edwin lives in Durham, NC, is married, appraises full time and enjoys a variety of hobbies when not working; including wood and metal work, bushcrafting, hiking, hunting, and others.
Kevin Lennon, MAI
Kevin is a native of East Longmeadow, MA and an East Longmeadow High School Graduate (1999). Kevin went on to receive an undergraduate degree from Western New England College in 2004. After graduating, Kevin began a career with Bennett Franklin Real Estate Group, a local commercial real estate appraisal firm. Kevin worked as a trainee for approximately two years before moving to Wilmington, North Carolina with his wife Shauna. After re-locating to Wilmington, Kevin received his North Carolina broker’s license and went to work for Coldwell Banker Commercial. After working for Coldwell Banker for about a year, Kevin started working as a real estate appraiser again with the Clontz Newkirk Real Estate Group in 2005. Kevin received his Certified General License in 2006 and also holds the MAI Designation with the Appraisal Institute. Kevin also holds a South Carolina Certified General license and has appraised a multitude of property types throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Massachusetts and Connecticut. In his free time Kevin enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, running and soccer.
Tony Green has lived in North Carolina most of his life. He was born in Salisbury Maryland and adopted when he was five weeks old in Greensboro, NC. Tony graduated from App State in 1988 with a BSBA degree in Finance and Real Estate. He began his career as a residential broker before starting his appraisal career as an Appraiser Trainee with the North Carolina Department of Transportation in January of 2013. He earned his General Certification in August of 2016 and left NCDOT in the fall of 2016 to pursue other real estate opportunities. Since leaving NCDOT Tony has completed appraisals on a multiplicity of property types across North Carolina. He is a Certified General Appraiser in NC as well as a Licensed Real Estate Broker in NC. He is also a member REALTOR of the Winston-Salem Regional Association of REALTORS, the NC Association of REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS. Tony joined Clontz-Newkirk in 2019 as a staff appraiser. In his free time, Tony enjoys spending time with his wife, listening to live music, playing church league softball and watching a medley of TV sports including UNC Basketball, Carolina Panthers, NY Yankees and the Atlanta Braves.
Will Newport, MAI
Will is a native of Hanover, PA and a South Western High School Graduate (1996). Will went on to receive an undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University in 2000. After graduating, Will began his real estate career in 2007 with Clontz Newkirk Real Estate Group. Will worked as a trainee for approximately three years before receiving his certified general license in 2010 followed by his MAI designation with the Appraisal Institute in 2016. Will currently holds certified general licenses in North Carolina and Maryland. He has experience with many diverse property type appraisals throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Maryland. In his free time Will enjoys outdoor activities such as surfing, running and soccer.
Ella Vrolyk, MAI
Ella is originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia, and graduated from Ohio University in 1993 with a BBA focusing on international business and finance. Ella started her career as an internal auditor with the Treasury Department, before moving to Houston, Texas. Her appraisal career began in 1997 when she joined the real estate valuation group of Arthur Andersen in Houston. Her work with Arthur Andersen took her all over the country to work on all types of commercial and special-use properties. After working as an appraiser in Houston for nearly thirteen years, she moved to Asheville, North Carolina in 2010. Ella’s real estate career continued as she worked as an independent real estate consultant in the Asheville area. Ella joined Clontz Newkirk in 2017, and is a general certified appraiser in North Carolina and South Carolina. When not working, Ella enjoys the many outdoor activities offered in the mountains of North Carolina, especially hiking and rafting with her son and daughter.
